  Photography and Video Policy

British Gymnastics have guidelines that cover competitions, but they do not extend to general use of videos in club and the use of images on websites. Our policy is being developed and is trying to balance between no photography and carefully controlled photography.

This document sets out the policy for the use of video and photography in the absence of a formal policy from British Gymnastics. At such a time that British Gymnastics produces a policy then it will be adopted by Stockport School of Gymnastics and this policy will be superseded.

Club and Recreational Sessions

In general there is a complete ban except for use by a coach. However, subject to a coaches permission, parents/guardians may photograph or video their own son or daughter only. The video is a beneficial teaching aid and can be used by members of the coaching staff. At the end of each session the camera and the video will be stored in a secure location. Occasionally coaches need to analyse tapes in more detail. This may require the tape to be taken to the coach's home. In this instance, permission will first be sought from the gymnast's parent/guardian.

SSoG Competitions

Photography and Video cameras will be allowed subject to the user signing a registration form. There will be no flash photography except during medal presentations.

Website and Other Public Arenas

The website is a source for news and publicity for the club. It is also an easy place for people we do not know to download pictures in electronic format. The following applies: Pictures of individual gymnasts will only be placed on the website if a permission form, displaying the photo, has been signed by the parent/guardian and the gymnast. Group photos will be placed on the website without permission forms. Any photos placed on the website that either the parent or gymnast is not happy with, will be immediately withdrawn.
