Text Box: We were so lucky with the weather this year when we went to St Wilfrid’s C of E Primary School in Northerden. It was not hot, but it didn’t rain on a generally cloudy/damp weekend. All the younger gymnasts managed to borrow leotards so the girls looked good and the displays were well received by the school parents. We did a busy display with beam, trampet and floor all going on at the same time. Lots to look at and hopeText Box: We have been asked by the Sports Trust if we would become key holders for the Dialstone Recreation Centre for the weekends. This means that we have the key, open up when we come, have sole use of the centre while we are in and lock up when we go. Great opportunity for the club as we will be able to offer additional classes for the recreational gymnasts, where there is a big demand and to spread our club sessions into Saturday morning. The downside is that we will not see Ken and Dave at the weekend as they will be off; we will now only see them during the week.
We are currently discussing how we will organise the training sessions, but it is likely that there will be some changes for all gymnasts. The basic times look like they will be the same, Saturday, mats out at 9.00, sessions start at 10.00, finish at 4.30, Sunday, start at 9.30, finish at 2.00, but who trains at what times will be decided during August.
We will let you know.
Text Box: Not much to report on really. The contact with the Developers, The Sports Trust and the Architects has been minimal and the main reason seems to be that the credit crunch and the drop in house prices means that all parties are having another look at the plans. If the developer cannot get as much money for the houses he is going to build on the Dialstone site, then there is less money to spend on the sports facilities on the Blackstone Park Site.
I suspect that it might go quiet for a while, but there is still an intention to do something. Will it be Spring 2010, I think that date is no a bit ambitious.
Text Box: fully meant that the mistakes were missed. We ended with the usual spectacular jumping over the beam session from the older gymnasts.
If you want us to go to your school next year then ask early as we only do 1 or 2 each year. We also are only able to get there for 2.00, so morning fairs cannot be done.
