Text Box: There were a few competitions during April, May and June which have not been covered by the newsletter. Rather than backtracking, as all the results are on the website, the GM Open in June features in this month’s newsletter. It was held on the weekend of 14/15th June and was the first competition held by Greater Manchester that was open to gymnasts from outside the county. It also attracted FIG gymnasts, lots of good routines Text Box: and moves that you will not normally see in North West competitions.
Interestingly enough we did better in this competition than we did in the GM 4 Piece held in May.
Carla Mansfield was our only overall champion, winning the Novice Under 8 competition.
Our individual medal winners were:
Stevie Taylor, Gold on Bars and Silver on Vault in the Regional Level 3 competition.
Shushana Brennan, Bronze on the Floor in the Novice 12 and over competition.
Colette Lowe, Bronze on Vault in the Novice under 12 competition.
Hollie Ward, Silver on the Floor in the NovText Box: ice 12 and over competition.
Sam Webb, Gold on Vault in the Novice 12 and over competition.
Well done to all gymnasts.
Text Box: This month we say goodbye to 2 longstanding members of the club. Alannah joined us from the Macclesfield club and originally competed in 4 piece competitions. Now she is in the 2 piece squad and is leaving to concentrate on her other time consuming activities, such as orienteering. School sports teams and playing in a band. Alannah is not lost to the sport as she is starting to coach Text Box: at the Macclesfield club, which is a lot closer to home at Gawswoth than Stockport. Alannah’s mum. Jenny, will continue as the Volunteer Coordinator on the Exec Committee. We wish her well.
Text Box: Kerys has recently got into Cheerleading and has been very successful in both team and individual competitions. Kerys has competed in many 2 piece competitions, Grades and a couple of 4 piece competitions. We wish her well with her cheerText Box: leading. We still of course expect to see Kerys’s Mum, Aunty and Gran at the club, helping out with the competitions as Daisy will continue to come to rec.
Good luck to both of you and enjoy your sport.
Text Box: We will be supporting Sports development this Summer by running Gymnastic courses for 3 days at Dialstone. The coaching is always well received and is a good feeder into our rec classes.
Text Box: No Tuck Shop during August as there are no Rec classes. We are always on the look out for parents to come and help. The Tuck Shop also looks after the registers and all of the money side. See Mike!
